All My Children has been graced with a series of nominations from various industry groups over the past few months. It's possible that with our other news coverage you might not have seen all the awards nominations. Because of this, we have opted to place a full recap of the nominations and wins below.
The writing staff of All My Children has been honored as the top writing team in daytime serials at this year's 53rd Annual Writer's Guild Awards. The Awards honor outstanding achievement in writing for television, radio, and film. The honor this year is particularly great because only one other soap -- Passions -- received a nomination.
Eden Riegel (Bianca) accepted a special Board of Directors Award from the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center on behalf of All My Children. The award honors AMC's groundbreaking exploration of Bianca's homosexuality.
"All My Children has done something truly remarkable by creating a storyline about a young lesbian and her mother's emotional journey toward total love and acceptance," says the Center's executive director, Gwenn A. Baldwin.
Riegel aceppted the award on March 3rd. In addition to the praise by the L.A. Gay and Lesbian center, the storyline has also won high praise from GLAAD, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation. GLAAD named All My Children the Outstanding Daytime Drama. In a rare occurrence, AMC was the only nominee in the category.
OLTL Tops AMC for Directing Award
Congratulations to One Life to Live, winner of The Directors Guild of America's Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Daytime Serials and Children's Programs for 2000. One Life to Live topped two nominations each from Guiding Light and All My Children.
All My Children's entries this year were:
Casey Childs for All My Children "Episode 7919." This is Childs' first DGA award nomination. The nominated episode featured scenes of an explosion at the construction site of the ColMar Tower.
Conal O'Brien for All My Children "Episode 7969." This is O'Brien's first DGA award nomination. His nomination was earned for the episode in which David spilled Libidozone into the punch bowl at Ryan's yacht party.
Y&R's Moore Again Praised By NAACP
Shemar Moore (Malcolm Winters, The Young and the Restless) was once again named Outstanding Lead Actor in a Daytime Drama at the NAACP Image Awards. The Image Awards honor excellence in various fields of entertainment by African-American performers. This is Moore's fourth consecutive win in the category. Also nominated this year were Kristoff St. John (Neil Winters, The Young and the Restless), Mathew St. Patrick (Adrian Sword, All My Children), Timothy D. Stickney (RJ Gannon, One Life to Live) and Nathan Purdee (Hank Gannon, One Life to Live)
