Russian mobster Uri Koslov kidnapped Cassandra Foster, the adoptive daughter of Pine Valley residents Angie and Jesse Hubbard. Uri and his brother Vlad ran a sex trafficking ring in which they kidnapped young women and forced them to work in the sex trade industry. Uri was in charge of the overall operation and delegated much of the direct work with the girls to his brother Vlad. Uri was irate with his brother after he learned that Cassandra's father was the Chief of Police in Pine Valley and had the potential to destroy their operation.

Uri forced drugs, rape, and pornography on Cassandra and the other women they held captive. He planned to sell or kill Cassandra soon after he realized that the police were closing in on his trail. Instead, he agreed to return Cassandra in exchange for her father's help. Uri ordered Jesse to fake his death and pin it on Zach Slater. Uri supplied his brother's body, which had been burned beyond recognition. Jesse used dental records to declare that Uri was dead and in return Cassandra was injected with drugs and released.

Uri continued to threaten Jesse and his family after the murder charges against Zach were dropped. Jesse was forced to resign as the Chief of Police and his involvement in Uri's supposed death was revealed. Afterwards, Uri dropped out of sight but Jesse believed that he continued to pose a threat to his loved ones.
