The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences presented the 30th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards for the creative arts on Saturday, May 10, 2003 in 42 categories during simultaneous black-tie ceremonies held at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City and the Sheraton Universal Hotel in Los Angeles.
Awards were presented in such categories as: Directing in a Talk Show; Casting Director for a Drama Series; Art Direction/Set Decoration/Scenic Design; Writing in a Children's series; Costume Design/Styling; Multiple Camera Editing; Music Direction and Composition; Direction in a Children's Special.
Emmy Awards are presented to daytime television programs that are broadcast nationally between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 p.m. The eligibility period for this year's Daytime Emmy Awards was January 1, 2002 – December 31, 2002.
All My Children dominated the technical awards, winning in seven of its 12 nominations. The ABC soap was the only daytime drama to win multiple awards in the technical field. AMC's wins include Art Direction, Makeup, Hairstyling and Light Direction. The seven wins put All My Children just one vote shy of tying the all-time record for most Emmy wins in a single night, a record held by Santa Barbara and equaled last year by As The World Turns.
As The World Turns, The Bold and the Beautiful, General Hospital, One Life to Live and Passions each picked up one award.
