The teen scene on General Hospital is one of the most enjoyable elements of the ABC drama series at the moment, but viewers might start seeing slightly less material from the younger cast members due to their school schedules. Following in the footsteps of William Lipton (Cameron Webber), Sydney Mikayla (Trina Robinson) reveals that she has dropped down to recurring status in order to dedicate more attention to her university education.
"Right now I'm getting into the swing of things at school and navigating the balancing act. GH has been super supportive of all the teens going to school and I'm super happy about that," the actress tells Soap Opera Network. "Team GH!"
Back in June, Mikayla shared with Soap Central that she had decided to attend the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and that juggling both her school plans and GH was a mixed blessing.
"It's been a little bit insane! But I'm grateful for it, and I am just so grateful that my academic career and my acting career have kind of taken off at the same time," she said. "I'm really excited about that, and I'm looking forward to seeing where it takes me."
Thankfully, even though her GH status has changed, Mikayla doesn't have any plans to leave her role as Trina anytime soon, and she will reportedly continue to remain in current storylines. She is expected to graduate as part of UCLA's class of 2025.
